Hi, I am fairly new to C++ and I was wondering about Networking, or setting up a mini server in specific. I would like to have a program that can be hit over a network, or the internet and will run another program. I have looked into the ACE libraries but I havent been able to find A good tutorial. could you point me in the direction of a good totorial or tell me what code to use.
I esentialy just want to know how to make a program that is idle until it is pinged from a port, and then that trigers it to run the program.
     Thank you for your help.

http://www.codeproject.com/internet/ndk.asp  Looks like a great framework for developing a server.  You can look into the code and see the generic way of setting up a server socket, the accept loop, and how to handle the incoming connections.
