i downloaded a program (diskkeeper) and by mistake associated it with another program (bigfix) now when i click on diskkeeper bigfix appears.. i uninstalled and installed both many many times can u help? windows 98 se thanks mark

ok in that case .. do u know the path to which the diskkeeper software was installed!
(ie. c:\program files\diskkeeper)
Secondly is the DiskKeeper software listed within the 'Open with ..' list, if yes ... select it!

click on the 'Other' button and select the path to where the DiskKeeper software is installed.
this should solve your problem.

got help from diskkeeper, what i did was delete the MSC file. delete mmc.exe, mmcdndmgr.dll, uninstall diskkeeper, reinstal it, forcing the reinstalltion of microsoft mangement console, which solved my problem yahoo ;)))))))))) markE
Simply, select the file for which you wanna change the File Association. Hold down the SHIFT key and click the Right button of your mouse. You will get a popup asking which program to use , select the program , and check the "Always use this program for ..." . You will be thru. You can also use the Explorer -> Tools -> Folder Options -> File Types Tab, to change File association types.
But there is really no need to uninstall / install stuff.
