Problems installing application on w2k server
I have assigned 20 points to this, but I've posted the question in Platforms as well. I'll allocate more points all points to the right solution.
I'm not sure if this is the best place to put this question. The solution should be simple too, but I'm flumixed. I have a packaged solution, it doesn't really matter what the content is: it included Access 2000, SQL Server, ADO, DAO, RDO,CDO lots of other crap. I can install and successfully run the application on XP, 98 and Windows 2000 machines.
However the setup program doesn't get to my code. It happens when it is trying to load the installer.
HERE'S the problem: when I try to install this on the w2k server it says it needs to update some system files, I say okay, it they does stuff, and says I need to reboot the server.
I reboot the server, and it comes up with the same message... imagine I repeated this action a few times, just in case.
So what am I doing:
1) I am logged on as the system administrator
2) I have tried to install my application by:
a) start ->run -> setup.exe
b) control panel -> add/remove programs -> setup.exe
3) I have tried the following:
a) I have disabled NAV
b) I have closed all services and 3a)
c) 3b),3a) and both 2a) and 2b)
The server has: SBS2k, Exchange, SQL Server 2000, NAV Enterprise 7.x, Firewall, VPN, etc. etc. etc. (remember I shut down all services at one point to install my application).
Any ideas?

Oh I'm packed the system using the package and deploy wizard, I am using VS6(VB6) and sp5, and the server has sp3
and what about Q191096 ?
Sometimes, installing VBRun60sp5.exe (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;290887) helps me.

Wow,
emoreau very impressed.
It looks like this could be the solution... :)
I search support.micy and turned up nothing.
I'll give this a go on Monday morning.
Thanks again.

Thanks again Emoreau,
This did the trick: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;191096
From Monday to Thursday (7.00am to 8.30 am)I tried in vain moving files around to get them to install.
Finally today I booted up in Safe Mode, it worked a treat!
There are 20 more points in operations, if you submit an answer pointing to this answer I will award you those points to!
BTW do you know a website that I would get a good grounding in IIS and ASP fast? I've used IIS and Front Page, but only at a superficitial level. I've strong SQL and VB and Access. Any ideas?

Thanks again emoreau,
You're up late?
I went to asptoday, there seems to be some restrictions in accessing the pages.
Thanks again though.
