controls that have transparent areas

Hi everybody,
I'm trying to create controls that act like Microsoft Word's auto shapes so the control must have a transparent area, for example, a cricle, the remaining area outside the circle must be transparent
I tried some API fuctions "CreateRectRgn", "CreateEllipticRgn", and "SetWindowRgn" but they work with forms only and I can't use them with user controls
PLEASE help me it's very important to me
thank you for your patience

You may have any action occur that you wish inside any area of the screen by handling OnClick() and checking the mouse pointer position against a set of points you have defined to be your area.  the Point object has a lot of facilitators to ease this process, but basically you have to do a lot of low level, nuts and bolts type programming unless you can find some code on the net.
