How to recover a user account in Windows 2000 Workstation?

A friend of mine accidentally deleted my user account which has administrator privileges through the "users and passwords" section of the Control Panel. So I cannot log onto the computer with my account. I logged onto the computer as "administrator" but of course the desktop was different and I am not able to see most of the programs I installed with my deleted account. When I start MS ExchangeI am not able to see any of my mails, folders, personal settings, etc. I cannot see my files under My Documents folder either, which I suppose normal?

Is there a way that I can recover my accidentally deleted local user account in Windows 2000?
So that I can recover my personal settings, files and view?

Your help is very much welcome. Thank you in advance...

That depends... when the account was deleted, was the profile deleted as well? (To figure this out, look in this location:
%root%\documents and settings\"profile name"
If that folder is still there, then try this:

rename this folder
re-create the account
copy the contents of this folder into the new account profile. (make sure to have the system set to view hidden files and folders so you recover the information in them as well)

This will get back most of your data, but you will need to re-do some things. such as:

Setup your e-mail account
import old messages into the account
reset the desktop settings etc.

If this folder is not there, then you would be better off attempting to recover it in the manner that CrazyOne suggests. (Even then the registry entries will be lost, and you will need to do the e-mail etc again)

With the folder there your chances are good to recover, without the folder, your chances are very small.

Hope this helps!

Try going into the C: drive, Documents and settings, then make sure that you can see all files (hidden and such) and see if there are remains of your old user name.  if there is, open it up, and copy everything to the one that you have now.
