I have an AGP card, but my Nvidia control panel thinks otherwise?!

thanks for listening, I have a Geforce 4 MX440 se and it is capable of AGP x4 yeah? Also i have an Intel 845 motherboard (sucks) which supports AGP 4x, now when i go into the control panel of my Nvidia card it insists that i only have a PCI card and on the AGP settings all the accerleration settings are disabled and it wont let me enable them even to AGP 1x ! This is not cool and it annoys me greatly, although it runs faster now cus i have overclocked it, it should be faster becuase of AGP 4x please help thanks   -Tray

looks like new drivers came out the 27th.... I would download the new ones and see if your card doesn't get recognized correctly

http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp
Also, since you are overclocking now, I would try reverting back to factory speeds and see if that helps.
Is 4X enabled in the bios? set the agp apature to  a min. of 64 in the bios. What motherboard is this? (not just the chipset)Did you install the motherboard chipset drivers? What is the OS you are running?

cheers lads, my motherboard is D845GBV (Intel) i did unoverclock it but no change and i changed the appature size in BIOS to 256! lol just as a test but no difference :-( i will get the latest Detanator drivers tonight but i doubt that will change anything, the thing which confused me most was the bit that said Geforece MX440 AGP in PCI mode? could i override this?! cheers
yeah i did that today, i took out my AGP card and reinstalled the chipset drivers to see if that would work and then stuck my card back in, but no change
I would suggest trying to get a program called NVmax then try setting to AGP4x in it. Make sure your bios is set up correctly. Also try putting the card into another computer to see if the card will run at AGP 4x if not then you know that it is a card problem and if it does then you know it is a driver or motherboard problem. Hopefully both are still under waranty. :)
well the problem is sorted now thanks :-) I bought the new toca game and it hates my PC and constantly reboots it so i formatted my PC and reinstalled XP Pro and now Nvidia ses i have AGP 4x and now i have an extra 1000 points on my 3d mark 2001 score :) as for Toca :( i will have to take it back but it is a kick ass game Thanks ;)
