Creating email

I used to use Microsoft Exchange as our email platform, thus all the programs that need emails to be created through program, I create outlook objects.

Recently we have changed the platform to Lotus notes, in view of this, I would need to change the program to be able to send email through Lotus notes.

I'm thinking, instead, is there a way to create generic message and send direct through SMTP?
