Tomcat - $CATALINA_TMPDIR getting filled up

Can we clear up the contents of $CATALINA_TMPDIR everytime tomcat is restarted; otherwise it is leaving files like 'jar_cache2267.tmp'?

If Tomcat is shut down, you can remove those files. The
class loaders use these files to cache jars they have
