Viewing wireless camera 2.4 GHZ on IPAQ-3970

I have a wireless camera which sends a signal at 2.4 GHZ, I view video images from it using a wireless  transciever and feeding the AV output to a TV. How can I view the images on a bluetooth enabled IPAQ which has a PCMCIA jacket?

Unless the 2.4GHz signal you describe is wireless ethernet (802.11b/WiFi) or Bluetooth (never heard of any bluetooth video cameras) then the only way you would be able to view it on your iPaq effectivly is the following.

Get a video capture card and feed the video into the computer and use Windows Media Server (you need Windows 2000 Server for this) to compress the stream into a windows media file.

Set up either wired or wireless network connection between the iPaq and the server and then use Windows Media Player on the iPaq to view the video live.

One aspect you will have to keep in mind is if you decide to use wireless ethernet then they use the same frequency (2.4GHz) unless you use 802.11a which is more expensive and I don't know if there are any PCMCIA cards that work with it on the iPaq.

The wireless camera signal is not wireless ethernet or bluetooth.

I was hoping to view the wireless camera on mobile excursions, where unfortunately I cannot use the PC/laptop server wireless ethernet method.

I haven't heard of any bluetooth cameras or found any small bluetooth adapters that converts a wireless camera signal into bluetooth; which could have supplied a solution directly.
I have your solution, but it isn't cheap.

If you get the flyjacket for the iPaq you will be able to plug the camera's wireless reciever into it as it can take composite or s-video input and display it on the screen, take screen captures or record short videos.

The problem here is mains power and cables. Does anyone know of a wireless receiver in the form of a PCMCIA or CF card which would mean there would not be the need to carry a wireless reciever that is mains powered and have trailing cables to connect to the PDA/laptop. I've heard of a radio/TV reciever built into a PCMCIA card but not one that recieves and interprets a wireless camera signal.
To my knowledge, there is nothing that will meet your needs as you state them. The next best thing would be to get an appropriate battery pack that supports your wireless reciever (most run on 9V - 12V and draw about 0.3A) so you can use it "on the go". Couple that with the flyjacket and you've got yourself the best solution possible with the hardware you have and today's technology.

You must understand that just because a video signal is 2.4 GHz doesn't mean it could be interpreted by a bluetooth or 802.11b reciever.

TheScream, I would agree with you in that there is no solution commercially available that can use the IPAQ as a display for a wireless CMOS camera without carrying a wireless receiver. In fact at the moment there is no integrated TV PCMCIA cards available either.

The only thing I found was to go for the ICOM R3 which gives you a A/V scanning, TV and wireless camera display and is smaller than my original wireless reciever. Expensive though!

Just out of interest what kind(s) of signal can a Wireless LAN card pickup and interpret?

need to sort you out with some points - first time doing this hence I'd like to receive last comments and award points
