I want to be able to launch an instance of an IE web browser to a url from a Java application.  I know how to run a command using the Runtime object, but I don't know the terminal shell commandline call to run IE given a url on Mac OS X.  Could a Mac expert help out?

Easier than it sounds. Type "open http://<url>". That launches the given url with the systems default browser. You cant force IE.
