Loading SWFs in layers in Flash MX

I'm having trouble getting SWFs to load in an "empty" movie click in MX.  I'm trying to load new backgrounds in layer 1 titled "empty", at a place in my movie called "about us" (a frame name).  When I use the below code, the SWF loads on top of the base movie, not within it.  I obviously don't want this in this case.  My code looks like this:

on (release) {
     loadMovie("aboutusphotod.swf", _empty)

I'm trying to load the SWF in the layer without naming the instance.  Any thoughts?

>>on (release) {
>>    gotoAndStop("aboutus");
>>    loadMovie("aboutusphotod.swf", _empty)

IF your empty MC is called empty then use this

on (release) {
    loadMovie("aboutusphotod.swf", _root.empty)
