NTOSKRNL.exe Missing or Corrupt

I cannot boot to Windows 2000 Professional. The message is "NTOSKRNL.EXE" missing or corrupt in WINNT/System32. I have the file from my backup storage, but I cannot figure out how to copy the file to the WINNT\System32 directory. I can use Windows 2000 setup disks (4 disks, created on another system, but they seem to work) to get to the repair console, but then I don't have access to copy files to the directory.

Please help.

Running the Recovery Console will fix that..That's the second URL from stevenlewis.

I've tried the recovery console, but for some reason, I can't copy or change files in the System32 directory. Logon does not work in the recovery console. Same thing when booting from a Win 98 diskette.

So you don't have the Administrator password?

The administrator password is blank. the system never asks for a password in the console. The logon command does absolutely nothing.
