RedHat 8.0 Toshiba Satellite Pro 6100 Problem

Hi All,

I have installed Redhat 8.0 on my laptop Toshiba Satellite Pro 6100. Everything was working fine till I tried to configure my modem. I screwed up somewhere and now when it is booting it says configuring ppp1 and it just hangs there.
I changed /etc/inittab to make it boot in Text mode but that doesn't make any difference. I tried to bypass it by hitting 'I' at boot time but that doesn't help either.

Any help will be appreciated.

have you tried to do:
 chkconfig --level 345 network off

?
it hangs, most probably because it is trying to fetch an IP to your dial up connection...

make your network off by default.
if you need it again, than make do it by hand like:

sudo /etc/init.d/network start
