What do I use to open documents with XLS extention and how do I setup folder options for this?

I have a document, casualty list of my military unit in Vietnam that has an extention of XLS; I have opened this before, but apparently since I have re-loaded my computer after a serious crash, I have not installed a program or reader that handles this extention.

I have Power Point, Word, and Adobe installed but I need a sort of rush answer to this so I am assigning the max points.

bucknquarter,

It's Excel instead of Excell
Or try OpenOffice (www.openoffice.org). It handles MS Office file types, but it is free of charge, which is a bit cheaper than MS Office... Runs on windows
as well as Linux and several other platforms.

And what do you mean with that folder setup?

Thanks for the quick responses, and all of you had very good answers.  The folder options I refered to was the file association with the program.  As I have previously mentioned, my brain is mush, so is my memory, having to relearn everything due cancer treatments but in remission, side effects are horrendous.  Xlviewer is the one program in my download files that I had not installed.

Now I have another problem, there are two best answers, and in all fairness I would like to award 500 points to both of you. Stoftrinator and sramesh2k.  How do I do this???

Hiya,

Just ask here to split the points:

BTW thnx :)
Once again, a super thanx to all who answered.  In all fairness, I could only split the assigned points so, da fustest wid da mostest,  although both answers were tops, the first answer got the most and the second accepted answer the rest.  If the EE was set up to do it, I would have given points of value to all the answers.  I hope that all respondents know that I appreciate every response, and as soon as I saw the 2 accepted answers I went straight to my download folder and there the XLviewer was.

Friend RID, although no points were assigned, your answer was by no means slighted, many of microsofts programs are fair to middlin, I am as country as corbread, If I can avoid using any of them, I will.  Although I do use some, I only use what I can absolutely get by with.  Of course every user has their prefs.  Again thanks for your response, and to be sure, if my mushy brain goes dormant again, I always know where to come for help.
