PntVideo.DRV - what is it and why am I told it cannot be found?

Very recently I keep on getting a dialogue box telling me that PntVideo.DRV cannot be found. The whole machine slows almost to a stop and in the Task Manager I notice the cpu is working at 100%. What's happening, why is it happening and how do I stop it doing this?

What OS is this and what are you trying to do when this happens?
This is a pice of info I found here.

Microsoft has a knowledge base article that says the problem is caused by attempting to access a 16-bit .dll, which is not supported on XP.  The Corel Support website has a newsgroup for legacy versions which also has this question posted.  The response from the Corel tech is that there is no solution they are aware of - you must upgrade.

p.s. My machine details are:

OS - WinXP
CPU - AMD Athlon XP2000+
Video board - ATI Radeon 7000 64Mb DDR
RAM - 512 Mb PC333 DDR
Browser - MS IE V6

The problem so far has only occurred when I'm on the internet
snowguy - my goodness your response was quick - I posted the m/c details without knowing you had already asked for that info.
Have you installed any corel software lately?
And do you have any installed?
What is the url that is causing this or is ther more than 1?
I do have Corel Draw installed but I haven't used it in the last few days when the problem occurs.  The problem is usually associated with EE but not always. There doesn't appear to be any specific url which triggers this other than when first getting into EE but even that is not consistent. Sometimes I get the problem when I first log into my ISP - Tiscali.
It may be worth uninstalling Corel Draw and see if the problem goes away.
And then reinstall it and see what happens.
snowguy - Is there any particular reason why you believe it might be Corel Draw that is the culprit? You see I'm loathed to remove and re-install Corel Draw unless that's the only solution.
PntVideo.DRV is a corel file.
It may be corrupted.
Do a search for it on your harddrive and see if it finds it. It may just be missing.
Although I don't know why it would mess with your browser.
Have you scaned for virus? Free on line scan.

snowguy - I have very recently done a complete scan for viruses and found nothing. Guess it's worth re-doing.  I'll have a look for PntVideo.DRV and probably remove and re-install it (only after I can find the original on disk).  I'll let you know what happens.
You may want to try the system restore feature (change it to a date before you had this problem)  and see if that will correct the problem.
HOW TO: Restore the Operating System to a Previous State in Windows XP

Thanks for that suggestion - never tried it - always a first time!
Snowguy - I've not forgotten about this one. I now have to access EE at work as the glitch at home completely prevents me accessing EE at home. I have discovered that it starts up as soon as the a.tribalfusion web page is loaded by EE.  I just wish EE didn't have to use that advertising server as it's a total pain for me. I know it is specific to my home system otherwise I would be having trouble as I write this at work. I've emailed EE but so far no response.

One thing is for sure the problem is specific to EE as all other web usage is unaffected.

Snowguy - I've so far done nothing to my machine and the problem has not occurred today so I'm not sure how that happened if EE didn't do anything - I just wonder? Chance perhaps - I'll wait and see if the problem recurrs.

snowguy - As you were good enough to attempt to give me an answer I've awarded the points to you. Thanks for your contributions.

The problem has disappeared - so all's OK for the moment.
Good I hope it stays that way.
