Arcserve2000 - Failed to login to the agent.

Hi.

I have a "Strange" problem.

My backup was working fine. And all of a sudden it started to fail on 2 servers running agents and previously working fine.

I have Arcserve2000 SP4 and all agents are running on NT 4.0 or 2000 machines. Agents are up and running and can be seen from Acserve PC. However, when i go into "Modify Job" and try to access that agent it comes up with credentials box. I give it correct credentials BUT......... it comes up with that message. I am 100% sure that credentials i am giving it are correct - I can go and phisically login onto PC where agent is running using same credentials.

Please, gimme your thoughts I AM STUMPED and i need those damn backup.

Thanks a ton in advance.

Yes i tiried to reinstall Agent, but no effect.

I tried loging into them as local user and as network user. All the same and same mesage.

How were they originally installed?  What has changed on the network recently to make them stop working?

You should really set these up so that every machine starts the server using a single domain account.

I am not sure how they were installed originally. This place was a ness when i got here a little while ago.

I reinstalled agent on one of the troubled PCs. It reinstalled fine with no errors. And seems like Arcserve machine can see that agent running and in Agent PC it is running under services.

Now, i WAS trying to unify all of my agents to use domain admin acount as a log on. And at one point (last Monday) they all were OK. But then 2 of them bummed. I can go and log onto those PCs with domain acount logon and other local logon i created. But when i use same credentials from Arcserve machine it do not like it.

What changed? Hummmmmmmmm......... I know our admin messed with routers but that shoudl not matter cyz all machines are internally on same network. And Arcserve CAN see agents.

Still super puzzeled :+(

Ya, I wouldn't recommend running them on THE domain admin account.  Setup another account just for Arcserve  and make it a member of the domain admins.  Use this account strictly for agents and Arcserve server.  Are the 2 machines both NT/2000 or one of each?

One PC is NT 4.0. 2nd one I am not sure, so let's just assume it is NT 4.0 as well.
