Try disabling Norton Antivirus (if that's what you use).  Right-click on  the icon down by the clock, choose disable. try the install again.  repeat to re-enable, or reboot.

If you us another antivirus, have to figure out how to disable it then try the install

Is it for any installshield based program,  or a particular one.   What program is causing the problem

Try this

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;q311203

If it is for all installations I would try restoring copies of stdole32.tlb and oleaut32.dll from your windows CD in win9x or winme..

Its a problem with the installation software - not your PC

The application is written in InstallShield Version 6.01 and is a known bug.

See Set StatusWindow bug here:
http://www.installsite.org/pages/en/bugs_is60.htm

The installer is attempting to use the MSXML.DOMDocument object, but it does not exist or is not registered. The installer assumes that the customer has msxml.dll present on their machine which contains this object. The installer chose the original msxml version, because it is present by default on all of their supported OS versions (and service packs). The fix is to reregister msxml.dll, after which you should able to complete the install.

First check if the file exists on your system (in your windows system folder).  If so you need to reregister it.  Depending upon your OS winreg32 msxml.dll should work.  If your not sure how to reregister dll files repost here for further help.  If it's not there install it from your OS CD (again if you need help repost).

Let us know how you're getting on

Good luck!

M :o)

Right now, all the InstallShield installers (I think only version 6.0) display:

'Interface not registered'

I read about some Installshield problems. Some errors are related with DCOM previlegies, but I can't configure DCOM (COM+) because it doesn't open:

Deleting the Engine folder in C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Engine and then re-installing the kernel file from www.installshield.com as per spiderfix's suggestion worked for me.

Software is any set of instructions that directs a computer to perform specific tasks or operations. Computer software consists of programs, libraries and related non-executable data (such as documentation). Computer software is non-tangible, contrasted with computer hardware, which is the physical component of computers. Software written in a machine language is known as "machine code". However, in practice, software is usually written in high-level programming languages than machine language. High-level languages are translated into machine language using a compiler or interpreter or a combination of the two.
