First Initial of First Name

guys ...

@Left(@Name([CN]; @V3UserName); " ") returns the first name and
@Right(@Name([CN]; @V3UserName); " ") returns the last name  ...

but is there any way to get the first initial of the first name ..

for example the complete name is "Robert T Smith" ... .. but I would like to have "R Smith" in the field.

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

If you are not on R3, don't use @V3Username ... it's only there for compatibility (afaik)

You could use

@left(@name([G];@username);1)

That returns the first initial of the Given name....

cheers,

Tom
