Problems accessing SQL Server on ISA Server machine via Enterprise Manager
Hi there,
we're running SBS2K with ISA-Server. The same machine also runs a SQL Server database and the SQL Server database agent.
I need to connect to an SQL Server database that is on the Internet, i.e. outside our firewall.
When I try this from a client computer with the firewall client installed, everything works.
But when I open up Enterprise Manager from my Server machine (the one that's running ISA Server as well) and try to connect to the same outside machine I get a "connection does not exist or connection denied" error. I really need to run Enterprise Manager / Agent from my server as I have to do some regular maintenance tasks from there, and only the server is running 24/7, not my clients.
Any advice on where to find the reasons for this problem and how to solve it would be greatly appreciated.
best regards,
Stefan

Thanks for the speedy response, but my problem is NOT that my clients cannot connect to external SQl-Servers.
It is, that I cannot connect from the server machine on which SQL Server and ISA-Server is running!!! This, however, is not covered in the article...
