asked on

video capture device to mpeg2

I have a video capture device (Logitech's usb web camera).
I would like to generate an MPEG2 stream by using directshow filters.
I have an MPEG2 encoder filter.
I also have the source filter for the camera.

At the end I would like to either stream it out to the network, or write it to a file.

ANY IDEAS PLEASE?!

Thanks. I will only be able to look at it after the weekend.
Your comment exlpains the basic structure - but I already know this.
The problem is that the filters do not connect in the graph edit application.
Maybe my encoder filter needs to be replaced.
BTW: a solution for MPEG1 is also acceptable
Ok only to test in GraphEdit, you can can try to Right Click in the Capture Pin of the Capture Filter and select Render Pin Option.

what MPEG 2 compressor are you using? Is no so easy found a free MPEGI/MPEG2 realtime compressor.
Well, I may be willing to pay - although budget is pretty limited.
Do you know where to look?
What type of component should I be looking for?
I think a excelent realtime Mpeg2/MPEg2 Compressor is Ligos GoMotion. But it is Xpensive. However if you can find a version of "Ulead Video Studio 4.0" and install it, you will found a Ligos Gomotion compresor in graphedit filter list.  And it is usable but i dont think it is legal for sell or distribute your software. It may be ok to do compression for your own. Note that new versions of "Ulead Video Studio" dont have this filter exposed like in the 4.0 version.

Another Good option but it is for MPEG4 is DivX. You can download decoder an encoder for free.

  Good Luck.
