Alternative to buying Dell Inspiron 5100 Notebook

I need to buy a new laptop in the next week or so.

The best one I've found that fits my needs so far is a Dell Inspiron 5100. I don't want to spend more than $1100, I want DVD and CDRW capability, and I'd like separate graphics RAM for performance, but am OK with shared RAM if the performance of the machine is OK.

The dell 5100 seems to fit my needs perfectly, the only thing is I've been supporting 5 users with Dell Latitudes and both the quality of these laptops has been bad, and Dell's tech support is DIABOLICAL.

So, I'll only buy this Dell if I can't find something equivalent from another manufacturer, and that's what I'd like help with

The machine I'm looking at is:

P4 (desktop CPU) 2.6GHz
15" XGA Screen
256Mb DDR on two DIMMS
30Gb drive
32Mb ATI 7500 Radeon graphics
Combo DVD/CDRW drive

This is about perfect for my needs. I do desktop web development, don't travel very much. 512Mb RAM would be nice.

The above spec. is currently on Dell.com for $1068

Look forward to hearing anyone's experiences with Dell 5100's or other machines that are very similar to the spec. above
