DNS bogs down

Hello all,
Have a windows 2000 server. Every day around 2 o clock the internet conection slows way down. I can stop and restart the dns server in control panel and the problem is fixed.  I have checked and double checked my settings. Every thing seems to be fine from what I have read. Any help?

Is there anything showing up in the event log at that time?

is terminal services installed?
install and enable network monitor or a sniffer program to catch data.  Are there any large dns zone transfers going on at that time.  Are any network backups scheduled at that time?

TS = yes
DNS is set up as basic forwarder to ISP dns. I have not set up any transfers since this is the only computer in the network. Inless thier is somthing that I should check to make sure that it is not set up.
No backups @ this time
Thanks,
Chuck

run 'perfmon' (performance monitor) and set up features to look up cpu process and network traffic.
Thanks for performance mo idea. Also it is the only server not the only computer. sorry about that. Also, i disabled wins since it is a win2k network only.   Is thier some place to look for DNS zone transfers since it is the only server on the network??
Chuck
zone transfers: start > run > admin tools > dns > drill down to your zone > properties > tab says zone transfers.
uninstall TS if not needed.
what services are running when the net slows down.
Will check on Monday. Do need TS. Ts is used all day long not just at that time.
CHuck
TS will bog down DNS in mid day is users do not properly disconnect and end session.  just verify the sessions open vs people actually on.
Ok,
I have been running perfmon. Logging. Nothing changes? Stright line all the way across. We have a dedcatied T1 with a gigabit card. the lan side is 100meg card.  Still not sure what the hell is going on?
Chuck
when it starts to bog down, check task manager services tab (crtl+alt+del) and check if anything is taking up process time.

you can install and try network monitor
Hey,
I took off replication and it has stoped bogging down.
Thanks for  helping.  I have no Idea why it is causing it but I am trying to find out.
