zip files hang my computer when I access them

wunyu asked
Last Modified: 2012-05-04

I have a weird problem that when I click on zip file to select it (for purposes such as moving it, opening it, extracting it, etc) it freezes my computer because it is trying to do something.  The amount of time it freezes up doing some processing is linearly equivalent to the size of the zip file (that's what it seems like to me).

I don't know what it's doing, but I can tell that it is taking up a significant portion of my system resources whenever I need to deal with zip files.  Can anyone help me out here?  Thks.
