Problem loading pages

Recently my browser, IE 5.5, has been giving me trouble loading pages.  Some pages do not load in full HTML, I do not get all pics, links etc.  This can sometimes be corrected by refreshing the page and sometimes this does not work.  At the bottom of the page I recieve a notice stating that the page is loaded but with some errors.  When this message occurs, the page does not work properly.  I have run antivirus and spybot and nothing seems to correc the problem.  Is there anything that I can do to fix this?

Greetings, stiles200!

1. There may be programs running in the background interfering with the operation of Internet Explorer. If you have Norton programs running in the background, temporarily turn them off, including anti-virus, win doctor, recycle bin protect, and clean sweep. Does this fix the problem?

Turn off any firewall or ad-blocker.

2. Perform a repair of Internet Explorer. From Control Panel select Add/Remove Programs. Scroll down to Microsoft Internet Explorer and highlight it. Click on the Add/Remove button. When the IE Tools menu comes up, select Repair. Click OK.

You can also access the IE Toolbar by clicking Start > Run and type

rundll32 setupwbv.dll,IE6Maintenance "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\Setup\SETUP.EXE" /g "C:\WINDOWS\IE Uninstall Log.Txt"

3. Use IE Eradicator to delete Internet Explorer.

Make sure you have downloaded the IE6 setup files first, but not loaded. Backup your Favorites folder.

ASKER

I do have Norton Utilities, but do not know how to turn them off.  Is that in the start up folder?  Also, I did not have antivirus running when the problem started so I know that cannot be it.  I tried repairing explorer prior to posting the help request and that did not work either.
With Norton Utilities, select Options > Startup Programs. Uncheck all of them. Click Ok. Reboot. This is temporary to see if any of the programs is causing the problem.

Thanks for the suggestions, however nothing has worked.  I am unsure how to export files from the registry prior to deleting them.  I am going to try upgrading to the IE 5.5 sp2 and see if that works.

Thanks AlexJ!!  I was leaving the 5.5 sp2 install until the last resort.  That solved my problems.
