Domino Administrator in Lotus notes client

I've just installed Domino Administrator but couldn't get it to start properly.

The short cut to Domino Administrator appears in Notes client but when i try to launch it i get error message: File does not exist: domadmin:ntf

When I launch the actual short cut from programs menu it asks me to set up notes client configuration.  This shouldn't happen as my client has already been set up (server settings, user id, etc etc)

Any thoughts?

thanks

Nope no good.

Still getting the same error message.
Go to notes data folder and look for domadmin.nsf (it is not ntf)

delete that file if u have and try to restart admin.

And which Version ur using?
Hi cooljam23,

Does the regular client start properly?  Does designer start properly?  If you click the ADMIN icon in the main client, does admin open properly?

Best regards,
qwaletee
Simply re-install the whole suite.

Before doing that backup your bookmarks.nsf, desktop5.dsk, names.nsf, notes.ini and any id files.

Reinstallation did not work.

Domino admin doesn't work properly if i try to launch it from the client.  client works fine with no problems, designer, etc.

also tried to delete domadmin.nsf

version is R5
What is the version #?
Find any line in NOTES.INI that looks like SetupXXX=## (where ## is a number).  Delete the Setup= lines.  Now try running Notes.
How did you install the notes suite ? Shared/Multi-User ?? If that is the case you cannot install the suite with that option only Notes Client can be installed with that option. So don't enable that option while installing the suite
It was shared/multi-user installtion.

I installed Domino Administrator option which includes notes client as well.

As I mentioned earlier domino admin works fine if executed from domino admin itself but it doesnt work if its launched within notes client
Yes there is a caveat when you do shared install on whole suite. Lotus does not support shared installation for whole suite. That is for Notes Client only installataion

thanks everyone.

qwaletee:  Your answer gave me an idea of how notes work interms of notes.ini.  We have the set up here in a way so that no matter which pc you log on to within AD notes.ini will follow your home directory.  We put the notes.ini in each individual's home directory.

What I did was put the domadmin.ntf file on to my home directory and added a line in domino admin start up file so it looks like this C:\Lotus\Notes\admin.exe =h:\notes\notes.ini

I was playing around with notes on local (c:\) that's why it didn't work properly because notes client was looking at the h:\ notes which is on the server.

It's all fixed now. Thanks
