Strange file created in the middle of the night.

User finds a new file on his desktop, first thing in the morning.

Filename:

~

Creation date: last night.

Open with notepad shows a bunch of garbage characters but interspersed in the mess is obviously his contact list from outlook express.

Norton anti-virus did run last night but no viruses found and no mention of this file.

This workstation is w2k and on a LAN protected from the outside by a firewall.

What could this be?

Except that they talk about removing 330994 patch and making the problem go away that way, but this ws has sp4 and doesn't have that patch.
