CStatusBarCtrl

Hello all:

   I have an MFC application where I've created a status bar whose base class is CStatusBar and I created a status bar manager class.  I've created several status bar items and everything in that respect looks good.  I'm able to update text fine.  However, when I set the tip text, nothing happens; I'm calling SetTipText(...).  Shouldn't this show an html style help popup box with text inside?  If so, why does mine show nothing when the mouse cursor hovers over an item?

   Basically, I'm trying to show additional information when the cursor is over some status bar items.  If 'm way off then can someone please tell me another approach?

Thank you,
Catalepsy

Try creating the CStatusBar with CreateEx , like

m_wndStatusBar.CreateEx(this, SBT_TOOLTIPS);

MFC documentation says
Once the tool tip has been set, it is displayed only if the part has an icon and no text, or if all of the text cannot be displayed inside the part. Tool tips are not supported in simple mode.

I'm going to have to give this one to rushinmonkey as it turned out I had to make my own CToolBarCtrl to make this stupid thing work and the article he pointed me to showed this.
