Is it possible to create a composite server control where the Controls collection is based on nested HTML tags? An example is:

Class TAGA
  Inherits Label
  Implements I...
End Class

Class TAGB
  Inherits Label
  Implements I...

 Public Render(...
End Class

<TAGA runat="server"><TAGB runat="server" /> someliteral text <TAGB runat="server" /></TAGA>

This should create a hierarchical control structure.

Yes, you can do that but you might need to override RenderChildren properly so that ASP.NET knows how to render the control....
