backup(sql anywhere 5) from PB 6.0

Hi folks :)

thanx in advance

i am using powerbuilder 6.0 with sqlanywhere 5.

i already created one backup utility using dbunload, dbinit and isql command line utility in conjuction with pkzip and pkunzip with a batch file.

it is working, no problem. but i hav some doubts.

then my question contiains three parts,

1.  my method is the gud way for backup & restore or any other gud, easy, reliable method can u suggest ?
    or any utility is available in any link or with anyone ?.

2. what is actually locking...when locking will be require, can u give some examples ?
    can i lock database,individual tables or fields.?

3. is it require to lock database while backuping and restoring?, if yes how ?
