RS232 commıunication and java

I need to write a program to communicate between two computers.But I have to do this with
using RS232. communication.Just sending a single string to other computer and receive any message from this computer is eneough for me.I have some experiences with sockets would they work?How can I do this?

To use RS232, you need the commapi for your platform.  This provides the APIs to identify and use your RS232 ports.

All you need is the javax.comm API. There is a tutorial including source for a server and a client that send/receive strings via serial port:
