Hi

I have data base with WE8ISO8859P1 character set. I am now forced to change the characterset to UTF8, I have insert Czech language characters also.

I created a new database with UTF8 character set, changed the NLS_LANG in registry to UTF8. The dump exported (using exp utility) from WE8ISO8859P1 character set is not fully importing on the UTF8. Its giving error as "value too long".

How to import all the data?

thanks,

Sudhi

UTF8 is a superset of WE8ISO8859P1 character set. you should Not have problem with importing.

but there is a reported bug with UTF8 charsets if you use Oracle 8.1.7 and UTF8 then there is a problem whereby you cannot exceed 2000 bytes in UTF character.
And This is not fixed in 8.1.7.3.0 either.
