I'm using Redhat 9 and connect to internet thru a VPN server, but the server is set to disconnect in every 8 hours. I can set my linux to auto connect on boot up. Can I set my VPN client to auto reconnect the VPN after disconnection?
I've tried adding -persist after pptp but failed.

you could use a cron job to check that it is up, and if not reconnect it if -pesist fails
