anyone know of some sort of software/source code judging software

I was wondering if anyone has heard of a software package that will judge source code/programs.

I'm looking for something that will judge the source code for compiliation errors and compair  the output once compiled to another program or file. My college has a programming contest for high school students and we want to automate the judging portion as much as possible and was wondering if there is anything out there that might help.

Well.... As for checking for compilation errors, I think your best bet is going to be to just try and compile it.  There are some tools available for checking source errors, but I don't know of any free ones.  VBLaw comes to mind for Visual Basic.

As for checking the difference in outputs, the Unix diff command should do exactly what you want.  Just save the output from the program into a file and use diff to compare it to the results - it'll return all of the differences between the 2 files.  If you don't have access to a Unix system, there are plenty of free/shareware diff utilities available on http://download.com.
