fax server Development

im making a client-server application based on fax server so my question can i make such an application using java which will function as a fax server and where do i start?

yes you can make it using java.
if you are talking about a fax gateway but you will need jni since you are taking to the system's ports.
as to where to start is difficult to answer without knowing how you are intending to work the queing and fax delivery
but these would be the steps
1. user enters his fax data in the client
2. this is send to the server
3. server identifies the number and the message
4. the server dials the number and sends the message.

keep in mind this is not a simple task. better would be to use the systems fax server and your server passes data to the fax server
