Screen goes black tho screen saver and power management is off

I've turned off the screen savers on five (library) machines.  I've set the power management schemes to never turn off the hard drive or monitor.  Yet the screen goes to black and it seems that the hard drive shuts down.  Any clues?  The librarians hate this.

Some computers (3 of my 5) have a standby/hibernate function actually programmed right into the BIOS.  That would be my first suggestion since you say you've already shut off the functions in the power management.

(if you haven't gone through the power management completely, be sure to disable hibernate and standy)

So I assume then that I can change the hibernate/standby at the setup level?
