If the DS is internally described then simply change the attributes in the I/D specs

If it is externally described then change the dds definition recompile and recompile the program

You can also simply enter the new spec as followes (usinf the LDA) as an example
 D LDA           E DS                  EXTNAME(LDA) DTAARA(*LDA)
 DU#LGCD                 873    874
 DU#LGCD                 873    873  0

ILDA       E DSLDA
I                                        1   2 PCONO
I                                      257 271 PNUMFT
I                                      257 2700PNUMFA
