Trying to get a DirecWay 4000 2-way satellite system working

My operating system is WXP.
I have tried many times to get my system running.  I have run WebSetup and get all the way to the end, when I get a message:

Satellite Diagnostics Interface
Re: Network Configuration
Your satellite receiver adapter IP address is not configured in you PC’s network settings.  Please run Websetup to correct this problem

Although I have run Websetup several times, the problem is not solved.  I have uninstalled my anti-virus and firewall programs and set my internet security settings to off (that's what the Direcway guys say is necessary).

Looking at a help screen that pops up, I am told:
TCP/IP networking protocol must be bound to the satellite receiver adapter

What do I do to get my Satellite Receive adapter IP address configured in my PC's network settings?

From your desktop, right-click the 'network neighborhood' icon and select 'properties'

Double-click the 'satellite receiver adapter and select properties again

You should now see a list of installed components, one should be 'Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)'

 - if its not there, select 'install' > 'protocol' > 'add' and select 'Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)'

 - if it is there, double-click 'Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)' and setup as specified by 'the Direcway guys', - if they haven't told you anything, just try to set it to 'obtain an IP address automatically' and try it out.

I have done what you suggest and still get the same error message.
What else can I do?

well, - then we should look at the hardware:

I assume you have installed a network adapter in your pc and connected it to some outtake from the Satellite receiver ?

Take a look at the network adapter from the outside, - is there 1 or two small LED's (lamps) visible on the card?

If so, observe the lamps for any activity when you insert/remove the cable, - often you will have a green LED being turned on only when a connection is established.

Have you got a replacement cable you can try switching with?

No solutions here.  The problem had to do with my equipment being misidentifed in the  Direcway database.  My equipment was identified as  a DW 6000, not a DW 4000 and the communication protocols are different.
