I had WinFax Basic, which came with my Compaq A900 all-in-one. I have been using it without any problem.

Recently, I had trouble installing Norton AntiVirus 4.0. The expert at Symantec told me to delete all files, folders, etc. referring to Symantec because I had a previous version 3.0. I did that and Norton installed okay.

However, in the process WFXUNIST.ISU which was in C:\Program Files\Symantec\Winfax also got deleted, and my fax does not work.

Now, when I try to reinstall WinFax Basic, I get the message to first "Uninstall WinFax Pro". When I try to uninstall WinFax Pro, I get the message "WFXUNIST.ISU" not found.

Since I never installed WinFax Pro (I had WinFax Basic) how do I resolve this problem?

The reply does NOT answer my question.

The main point of my question seems to have been totally missed: I do not have, and never had, WinFax Pro - so how do I uninstall it?

Does any expert know what I should do, other than beg, borrow, or buy the damn thing?

You can look in the registry to find entries about winfax and delete them. Then reboot and reinstall the fax.
