Sharing objects between movies

Is it possible to use a SharedObject to pass data between 2 movies?
i've tried
userinfo_so = SharedObject.getLocal("userinfo_so","/");
in each movie but it doesnt seem to work?
If this is not possible what is the best way to pass objects betwene movies?
