Whenever I e-mail someone the message is recieved as garbage ie it looks encrypted with undecipherable symbols instead of letters.  os is microsoft xp. Outlook is 2002 v 10.2627.2625.  Any suggestions?  If you wish I can email you and you can assess directly what the message looks like.

Thanks

No this didn't help.  My problem is that my sent message is entirely garbage as though it was encrypted.

How do uou encrypt your attachments?
Go to Toold/Options/Internet format; is uuencode selected? if yes, uncheck the options

If you send yourself an attachment and then check the SMTP header (open the received mail, View/Options), what do you read for MIME encryption?
Attachement are always encrypted as SMTP transport accepts only pure ascii chars

ok I e-mailed myself something but it was not garbage.  The problem may be intermittent I don't know but it occurs frequently. the MIME was 1.0 in the header if that makes any difference.

So does everyone gets your email as garbage or only certain people
what do you see in your "sent items folder" once the message is gone ?

does it make a difference if you send using rich text, html or plain .

try all these

Also check for virus in your system

I meant the Content-Type such as/

Content-Type: multipart/mixed;
      boundary="----=_NextPart_000_0007_01C3D172.8B4779A0"

Ok, I finally figured out that the problem only occurs when I forward something.  It does not occur with an original note.  I am using Norton Internet Security and it does scan outgoing e-mail for viruses but I'm not sure this is the culprit.

I threw in the towel and swithed to Outlook express.  I tried to update it as reccommended but the update would not install.  I wonder if the file is corrupt.
