Hi

Can anyone point me in the right direction, I am fairly new to Lotus administration. I'm a spoke admin in a very large organization with over 30,000 users in the address book, I have just created an "All Site mail users" group at our local site, and would now like to populate this group with all mail users on our home server. Could you please let me know if I can populate this group with all local email users homed on "serverx" via an agent, instead of scrolling through the address book and selecting the users individually etc.
Were running Domino R5.0.11 on W2k

Any advice would be appreciated

Regards

As I understood ur problem here is the desc.,.

U have users over 30,000 on server.
Now u want to create a group on the server and send emails to this group.
U want to access this group from local PC's if it is not connected via direct dialup.
Am I correct? Whci version of notes ur using?

Else

U want to select user  names from ur local pc(ur local address book) instead of selecting from a server copy since ur connecting through dialup.

Which one is correct and can u elaborate a little bit?

Thanks

We have 30,000 users in our Org (not on the local server), and I wish to select the "All local email users" group document on the server from local PC's (not local PAB).

Were running Domino R5.0.11 on W2k, and the clients are R6

Does Powershell have you tied up in knots?

Managing Active Directory does not always have to be complicated.  If you are spending more time trying instead of doing, then it's time to look at something else. For nearly 20 years, AD admins around the world have used one tool for day-to-day AD management: Hyena. Discover why

Now I understood.

U want to create a group names "All local email users".

Instead of selecting each user names, u want it to be automated through script or something else and add all the names to this group and save.

Am I correct?
I don't have ready made code for it. But I will look for the code or I will write code to do it. In the meantime, wait for other experts if they have any code or any idea.

Thanks

Open the NAB and create a private view with the following selection formula;

SELECT Type = "Person" & Mailserver="CN=Name/O=Org"

Obviously you will fill in "Name" and "Org" with your values for the mailserver(s) you are interested in.

Creat two columns;

1. A sorted column with the formula - @Name([Abbreviate];MailServer)
2. A column with the formula - @Name([ABBREVIATE];@Subset(FullName;1))

Now the fun bit...

You can validate a formula by typing it into *any* text field and hitting SHIFT-F9, so go to your new group document and in the 'members' field type the following;

@DbColumn("":"NoCache";"";"view";2)

Where "view" is the name of the view you created earlier. The members field will now automagically fill itself in with the first entry in every users 'User Name' field who's mail server is on Name/Org.

Quick and dirty, but it works a treat :)

This is off the top of my head, so if you run into problems just shout.
