not allowing anchor tag to change view anchor tag

I Have a table which allows users to sort the rows by clicking on the columns.
The link is defined in this way:

<TH><a href="#" onclick="TableSort('inventory1', 0, 'n')">Indent No.</a></TH>

The problem with this is if it's a large row which scrolls the page horizontally and user clicks on the column after scrolling horizontally,view comes back to the beginning of the page. I want the view to remain on the same columns as it was before clicking the heading.

<TH><a href="#" onclick="TableSort('inventory1', 0, 'n');return false;">Indent No.</a></TH>

"return false" stops the following of the link which is causing your problem.
