ORA-03113:end of file on communication channel -- while importing

i tried to import a dmp file into oracle 9i (9.2.0.4.0), in WIN 2000 Server, which was exported from a 9i db in Solaris .
I got the following error :
IMP-00003 - ORACLE ERROR 3113 ENCOUNTERED.
ORA-03113 :END OF FILE ON COMMUNICATION CHANNEL.
IMP-00003 :ORACLE ERROR 3114 ENCOUNTERED.

I created another dump and tried the import and its working fine.

I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

ORA 3113 just means you got disconnected from the database. That could be because of a corrupt dump file or because of a server problem. Look in the Oracle server's alert log for the details. It will point you to a trace file (something.trc) which will have detailed info on what happened.
