Hi all. I have a report that I am updating as it is using some old tables, so I have gone through, set the database location to the proper database and modified a few subreports to use different tables. Now everytime it runs (after it asks for the parameter field) it pops up a small window:

The Header states: Change in Record Selection Formula detected
The message in the body of the pop up window states: Used saved data from: ?
The window has two buttons: Use saved data OR Refresh Data

I have checked my groups in my main report and subreport. All the fields being used exist. All fields used in the report and subreport exist in the tables used in the qry's.

BTW: My main report uses a qry. My subreports just use a few tables--no queries.

I have verified the database location on all reports used in this report. The total number of supreports is 8 and they're all very small.

I have verified the database by going to database and clicking verify database.

Any idea's?

Check any formula fields and make sure they have all updated correctly.  Particularly if a table name has changed and was referenced explicitly in a formula.

If all of your report fields exist, formulas are the next place I'd look.

I have checked and double checked all fields and formula's. There nothing complex about them. The main report select statement only uses the shipID parameter. The subreports use a single field from the main report. Nothing seems out of the ordinary in that regard. Let's assume that is not the problem. What else could it be?

Well, the first messag was "...change in record selection formula..." so I would check the Selection Expert.  Even if everything looks okay it might not be a bad idea to recreate the selection criteria.

Another possibility is that the prompt is being generated by the database itself.  When you moved the datasource, did you change from one type of database to another?  Is there a syntax error in the query now (something permitted in the original db that changed in the new one)?  I've seen this particularly when moving to/from Access because of it's somewhat unique syntax...

If you hit REFRESH DATA does the report generate correctly?

Do you have SAVED DATA WITH THE REPORT?
Open the report
Click FILE
Verify SAVE DATA WITH REPORT is not checked

Do that for each subreport.

In the options is
REPROMPT WHEN CONNECTING checked?
It is on the DATABASE tab

Hi all. I have checked all subreports and the main report--none of them have the Save Data With Report option checked. The REPROMPT WHEN CONNECTING option is not checked either. I have no formula's in any subreport that use a group name in them as they're all just text formatting formula's. None of my data uses any sort of time fields so I don't think that would be triggering this.

One thing that  has me a lil interested is that when I go to Database and click verify database, I get 10 alerts saying that the data is up to date. I am only counting 8 subreports, and then my main report. Is there a way to view or highlight all subreports in the report? I think there is another subreport but I don't know where. I have tried clicking on just about every field on the report but I don't see it.

Edit -> SubReport Links should give you all subreports in the dropdown box...

Well I called Crystal up and they said this is an issue that is being tracked (from Crystal 8.0 through Crystal 9.0). They don't necessary deem this a bug, but they don't have a suggestion on getting rid of the dialog. I did find what might be the issue that is triggering the dialog, but there's no way around it as far as the report is concerned.

The issue is that I have about 4 header sections and 4 details sections, all using suppression formula's. At any given time only 1 potion from the header and 1 portion from the detail section will be shown. A number of the sections test 4 or more fields to see if they are a certain value and each section has a different value it is testing against. When I commented out all section suppression formula's and suppressed all sections the dialog didn't appear (gee I wonder why...) Uncommenting any two of the 8 sections seems to be enough to cause the dialog.

The report is used in a system and the Crystal Decisions tech guy said the dialog shouldn't be a problem for the system (e.g. We don't have to write more code to handle this, which is good b/c doing so would be a very evil thing indeed).

So I guess the problem remains, but is not an issue. Hope this helps you guys -- in case you didn't know. Let me know what you think. I'm a lil torn as to how to distrib. points b/c, though, all of your suggestions would good, none have led to a solution. In fact there may not exist a solution in my case. I dunno. Please let me know what you think.
