I'm not sure with Outlook 97 but if it was possible you'd go to Tools, Options, Calendar options.

What does it mean to be "Always On"?

Is your cloud always on? With an Always On cloud you won't have to worry about downtime for maintenance or software application code updates, ensuring that your bottom line isn't affected.

No, none helped, I think in the end it turned out that it can't be done in Outlook 97 (there was a link to some free tools, but these can't be installed on the work system)
