Pop3 modifies each time I log off and on

Since I have installed XP Home edition, my pop3 incoming mail server for each account modifies from the original pop3 I have inserted to "localhost", making the send and receive function impossible until I manually change it all again. Moreover It adds to my User Name something else: i.e. if before was "roger", it becomes "roger.com". I have to change manually also my user name and then my MS Outlook 2002 works ok.

I don't know why before I didn't have this problem and also at work on my pc this didn't happen.

Is there any remedy for this ?

Have you checked for viruses in your computer

Check for spywares using Spybot , Ad-aware, Hijackthis and Trojan remover

Remove your email account and profile and create a new one

Also try repairing outlook ( http://howto.lycos.com/lycos/step/1,,71+26230+10698,00.html)

Thanks for the tips sunray, I do have installed PC Cillin 2002, and it is up to date as of yesterday of its virus definition. I therefore believe may not be a virus.
