Notes ID Recovery Information

Hi all,

Would like to check on this Notes ID Recovery Information.
As I know the Notes server can be configured to enable recovery of Notes ID and its password.
May I know where to setup this configuration?

Thanks very much in advance.

The Notes server isn't where you set this up.  The certifier is where you set this up.

In the administrator, go to the last tab (configuration), and click Tools->Certification->Edit Recovery Information

The way recovery works is that there have to be multiple administrators who approve a recovery.  For example, you can list five administrators as valid to get a recovery, and require that at least 3 of the 5 approve the recovery.  Or 2 of the 5, or even 1.

Once you set up this recovery information in teh certifier, thereafter, any NEW ID files created or certified using that certifier file will include teh recovery information.  A user can then go through the recovery process, and request an ID file recovery from the 5 administrators.  As soon as three admins approve the recovery, the user ID can be unlocked.

(The way it works behind the scenes is that a secret recovery key exists within the user ID.  Each admin can decrypt the key.  However, the Notes client will only make use of the key if it sees that the recovery key is signed by the required number of administrators.)
