Outllook Express & Windows Messenger
HI, that really F in annoying program Win messenger starts up EVERY time I enter Express and I cannot find the right setting to make it sod off.
I have unchecked the 'automatically log onto Messenger' box in options and have also unchecked the messenger service in msconfig. However, every single time I log into mail up it pops and won't let me close it down arguing that some program is using it's resources. Only way to make oit go away is to close email down again (I have unchecked the option to allow background running).
I can't see any reason why this annoying piece of ... keeps executing upon mail startup.
HELP!!!

Greetings, Kylem!
This utility will allow you to disable Windows Messenger on per-user basis, or on a machine wide basis. Download the ZIP file and extract MessengerDisable.exe to your hard drive. You can either double click the EXE file, or create a shortcut to it, as you prefer. You can, optionally, use this utility to remove Windows Messenger from your machine. You may need Administrator level privileges to run this program.

MAny many thanks guys. Got the sod! It's pretty darn bad of MS to impose messenger even when you select not to. Out of interest (no points here) do you know why this happens because I have another pc with virtually the same setup (one I use at home the other I take away on business so need be same for file transfer/backup etc) and it doesn't load on the home pc.
I have given all pts for this question to sunray as first solution posted and was great, Link provided also pointed to same script. Hope that rests ok with all.
Cheers again guys
