I have recently transferred my ISP from AOL dial up to Earthlink cable modem (roadrunner from time warner - just repackaged). I am unable to transfer my aol favorites to my new account which uses internet explorer. The customer service people at earth link are very nice, but barely speak English. Anyone there know how to transfer this info over (in English please)?

POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS TO TRANSFERRING AOL FAVORITES

move my favorites from AOL to IE

Give this a try. Open IE5 and sign on with AOL from there instead of signing on the traditional way. I beleive that the favorites will automatically revert into IE5. From there click on Favorites and click on organize. Then right click on each one and do a "send to". From there you can recreate into your new browser. Otherwise sign on with AOL and do the same there. I think AOL is just a shell over Netscape or IE5 anyway

 Haven’t tried this one!

SyncIT

Import AOL Favorite Places

SyncIT allows you to import your favorite places that you saved on your AOL browser into your SyncIT account and synchronize them with the bookmarks on your Internet Explorer, Netscape or Opera browsers. Since SyncIT does not automatically synchronize your AOL favorite places from the AOL browser, for best results, we recommend that you make any future changes to your bookmark set on another browser.

When you first install SyncIT, the dialogue box will inquire whether you wish to import your AOL favorite places. Check the box to do so. If you did not import your AOL favorite places during installation, you can run the import utility from the SyncIT program file directory.

The Program will read your AOL Favorites Places and import them into Microsoft
Internet Explorer.

Please note that this utility will import your AOL Favorites but will not keep AOL
Synchronized with IE.  If you add Web Locations to your AOL Favorites, you will
Need to rerun this utility to see them in  IE.

Wow, that's a lot of ideas. Sorry, I just got my first e-mail notification that there was a response. I figured it was impossible since aol uses ftp files and ie uses html (or so I was told). Let me try some of these and I will get back. Thanks, Tom

I thought I had submissions from a half dozen folks. Didn't realize that was all from 1 source. I tried several solutions, the do it yourself stuff. Couldn't make it work. At least 1 was for AOL transfer but did not appear to be for favorites. The favoripper appears to be a solution. Have not yet dropped the $20 (it is not freeware). Due to the large amount of info and presence of an apparent solution, I accept your answer with appreciation of your over the top effort.

Thank You!  I still think you can sign up with one of the on line Web Site
Bookmard Mgrs and upload you favorites out of AOL onto the Web Site and then download them into MSIE.  I did that with Blink several years ago.  They are no longer free plus I am not sure they still support the exporting back.

A not-so-new fad is to store the addresses to your favorite Web sites on the Web itself. This allows you to find those sites easily from any computer. It also makes sense for someone who uses more than one computer (one at work, one at home, maybe a laptop).
