Hi

This is the location of the registry key in windows 98, do a similar path search in XP to find the product key on the right of the screen and then change the key.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion

I can't get to those links from here LucF, so if this is the same information as in those links forgive me :P
And its_sree, if you use this information, but it is in LucF's links make sure the points go to LucF.

1. Run regedit and go to: HKey_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\Current Version\WPAEvents, on the right double click on "oobetimer" and change at least one digit of this value to deactivate windows.
2. Choose run from start menu and type in this command:
%systemroot%\system32\oobe\msoobe.exe /a to get the activation screen and go to the second option which is activate by phone.
3. In the new screen choose the option to change product key, and type in the new product key.
4. Close that window, reboot your system and enter the command in step 2 for the second time to verify your activation , you should see "windows is already activated".
Kenneniah,
no it's not the same information that's on the links I posted, my links have a little program that do all the work for you (so it's easier for inexperienced people, because they then don't have to use the registry editor)
